Raising Horseshoe Crabs in my Classroom

I haven't posted in a while, which I'm sure is heart-breaking to my 3 followers.   I'm all about not reinventing the wheel and making the most of your resources, so I thought I'd post a link to a blog that I was asked to write about my experience raising horseshoe crabs in my classroom.

  1. Fascinating! I raised toads for 3 years once - got them from the pond the day they hopped out when they were teeny tiny little toad lets. We weighed and measured them every month and tracked their growth as part of an amphibian research study being done at our Aquarium. I worked in the school library at the time so the whole school helped feed them by collecting woodlice and worms and cockroaches for them in their lunch containers. It was a fabulous project. Now I have a box turtle as a class pet - also a fun animal for the kids to have :)
    I'm following you now :)

  2. Glad to have you on board, Lynn. Your toad and turtle projects sound pretty interesting. Class pets can be a lot of work, but the rewards outweigh the time and energy spent ... most of the time ;-).
